Since the founding of the East Atlanta Community Association in 1981, local residents have worked diligently to revitalize the area, preserving the small-town atmosphere amidst the merge of old and new ideals. East Atlanta is comprised of Fulton, DeKalb and Gwinnett County. Gwinnett, one of the most sought-after counties in the Atlanta area as well as the nation, experienced an influx of 28,000 new residents in 2005. Other places of interest in East Atlanta include the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, High Museum of Art, Stone Mountain Park and Coca-Cola’s corporate headquarters, where visitors can tour the processing plant as well as the World of Coca-Cola Museum. Nearby, Interstate 20 connects East Atlanta to other in-town neighborhoods while the main surface street is Moreland Avenue. The MARTA bus system is easily accessible as well. Hospitals and schools, including Georgia State University, are just minutes away.
